The HIM Senior Director assists the SVP of HIM with the oversight and implementation of HIM services to fulfill the clinical documentation,coding, legal record, and revenue integrity needs of Ensemble Health Partners and their clients. The Senior Director will assist with operational planning, service level agreements, budgets, workflow processes, education, and internal controls. The Senior Director will actively participate in client(s) revenue cycle management processes and resolution of issues contributing to revenue delay.

Perform client site visits or remote report analyses to assess the efficiency of revenue cycle operations and recommend process changes where improvement opportunities exist.

Integral part of revenue cycle team by providing direction for the HIM, Coding, and CDI functions, monitoring HIM applications for data quality, standards, and reporting , departmental procedures, FTE coverage and outsourced services to develop and deploy policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure Ensemble and it's clients consistently meet all key performance indicators.

Works collaboratively with client's Senior Medical Staff , Corporate and Facility Leadership to comply with federal/state standards and guidelines enforced through Medical staff Bylaws/Rules & Regulations and pertinent policies and procedures.

Participates in communication efforts of HIM service key performance indicators, regulatory or revenue cycle topics, denial avoidance and educational material with Medical Staff, Corporate and Facility Leadership, facility departments, HIM, CDI and Coding professionals. Plan, develop and present educational opportunities for workflow enhancements, clinical documentation improvement, billing regulatory issues, charging processes, and other related revenue cycle trends via teleconference or on-site presentation.

Serve as key HIM contact and resource for Ensemble and assigned Client HIM projects and implementation activities. Assists as an internal consultant on health management issues including release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, record retention, authorship and authentication of health record documentation and use of classification systems.

Performs client unbilled activities collaborating with corporate and facility departments in monitoring unbilled reports, process HIM related claim edits, assist with denial management and other revenue cycle issues as needed.

Proactively manage escalation paths, action plans, and corresponding communication for significant issues in HIM , Coding and CDI operations, status of projects, barriers and successes.

Qualifications:

Certification as an RHIA or RHIT required.

A minimum of 5 years of Health Information Management Leadership experience required. Enterprise level of HIM leadership experience with revenue cycle consulting experience preferred.

Extensive acute-care HIM operational knowledge. Experience in small, mid-size, and large hospitals. Preferred knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software.

Extensive acute-care inpatient, outpatient and professional coding knowledge with applicable skill strongly preferred.
