The Clinical Documentation Supervisor will oversee site-based Clinical Documentation Excellence (CDE) program at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and monitors implementation of site departmental goals/objectives and supports the performance improvement process in conjunction with the Clinical Documentation Manager; assists the Clinical Documentation Manager with development of site CDE budget and work plan
  • Monitors and maintains timeliness of workflow, productivity, and quality of the site CDE program.
  • Ensures competency of Clinical Documentation Specialist staff by conducting on-going reviews and skills assessments; provides action plans and timely constructive feedback, as needed, to enhance staff development; leads hiring, training and performance management processes for all site-based CDE employees; coaches, mentors and empowers employees to complete tasks by providing information and support
  • Develops ongoing documentation improvement education programs based on regulatory changes or updates and internal quality audits for site CDS, administration and physicians
  • Acts as a direct contact for the Physician Documentation Improvement designee (physician advisor)
  • Participates in and provides input to site based and regional Steering Committees
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the Clinical Documentation Excellence program
  • Maintains time and attendance logs, approves PTO, orders supplies and troubleshoots technical issues as needed
  • Acts as a contact in the absence of the Clinical Documentation Manager

Qualifications - Minimum

  • 5+ years of nursing experience in either Med/Surg, Intensive Care, or Emergency Department required
  • 1+ year of experience in Clinical Documentation experience preferably in the Mercy Health systemas a Clinical Documentation Specialist
  • Current CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year of role acceptance required
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required at minimum with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing strongly preferred 
  • Wlingness to travel within the Toledo, OH market (St. Vincent Medical Center and Tiffin Hospital) required


Full-Time at 40 Hours/Week on Day-Shift with a weekend rotation. Must be willing to travel between St. Vincent Medical Center and Tiffin Hospital.
