Assists the Release of Information (ROI) Management team with the daily operations for the ROI functions within the Health Information Management Department for the respective markets acute care facilities, physician offices, clinics and departments. Work collaboatively with the ROI Management team related to the development of all ROI staff and in the absence of the ROI Manager. 

Essential Functions:

  • In collaboration with the ROI Manager, will be responsible for coordinating all activities relative to release of information (Legal Health record/Designated Record Set) of records for internal and external requests.  Maintains knowledge and compliance related to industry, federal, state, and system requirements in addition to communicating and incorporating such into the day-to-day activities.
  • Prepares and produces copies of PHI/Medical records received by verbal, written and electronic ROI correspondence, prepayment authorization, invoicing, revenue collection, and payment reconciliation for ROI services.
  • Fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality in all phases of release of Protected Health Information.
  • Promotes positive customer relations through prompt and courteous service in this fast-paced, high volume and customer focused environment.
  • Ensures accurate, timely, and confidential processing of release of information requests and ensures PHI is accessed and released in accordance with state & federal laws and regulations, hospital and department policies.
  • In collaboration with the ROI Manager, ensures on-the job training is carried out for all job duties. Carry out duties of a SMART (Specialized Mentor and Revenue Cycle Trainer) upon request of management.  Provides input to ROI Manager related to the progress of new employees, insuring competency has been met. Provides timely, clear, constructive feedback.

Qualifications - Minimum

  • 5 years of ROI experience required including workable knowledge of ROI State and HIPAA regulations
  • Experience with HIM job functions including working knowledge of EMRs, preferably EPIC/CarePATH. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • RHIT/RHIA or other healthcare or legal certification or degree highly preferred. 
  • Notary Certification preferred

Hours

Full-Time at 40 Hours/Week from 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. Hours may vary based on department needs.
